Uramaki, translating to 'inside out', is a variation of maki sushi where the seaweed (nori) is wrapped around the inner filling rather than around the outside of the rice. It is an American variation and not considered a traditional way to make sushi. California Rolls are one of the most popular and well-known uramaki dishes, commonly featuring crab, avocado and cucumber.
