The Musicians Series features portraits of famous musicians in some of their most recognisable forms.

Learn to Fly is a work made from six individual CryptoBrickie portraits of the legendary rock musician Dave Grohl. Dave originally rose to fame as the drummer in the world-famous band Nirvana, and after the death of lead singer, Kurt Cobain, went on to form the rock band The Foo Fighters.

Ever the performer, Dave has taken on many humorous personas in several of his music videos, with the video for the 1999 song Learn to Fly consistently rated by music lovers as one of the best music videos of all time.

In the music video Grohl and his band mates dress as multiple characters with Grohl playing a flight attendant, pilot, young girl, obese woman, FBI agent and himself.

The artwork Learn to Fly plays homage to Dave’s humour and versatility.
